Itinerary


Day 1: Rongai Gate to Simba Camp
Start your trek at Rongai Gate and hike through lush forests to Simba Camp at 2,650 meters. This initial section offers the chance to see wildlife and enjoy the tranquility of the less-traveled northern approach.

Day 2: Simba Camp to Kikelewa Camp
Continue the trek through heather and moorland, enjoying panoramic views of the Kenyan plains. Arrive at Kikelewa Camp at 3,600 meters, where you’ll be surrounded by breathtaking landscapes.

Day 3: Kikelewa Camp to Mawenzi Tarn Camp
Hike towards the towering peaks of Mawenzi, reaching Mawenzi Tarn Camp at 4,330 meters. This scenic location provides excellent acclimatization opportunities and spectacular views of Mawenzi’s rugged spires.

Day 4: Mawenzi Tarn Acclimatization Day
Spend an acclimatization day at Mawenzi Tarn, with optional hikes around the Mawenzi peaks. This day helps your body adjust to the altitude, improving your chances of reaching the summit.

Day 5: Mawenzi Tarn to Kibo Hut
Cross the lunar-like Saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo peaks, entering the alpine desert zone. Arrive at Kibo Hut at 4,703 meters, where you’ll prepare for the midnight summit attempt.

Day 6: Kibo Hut to Uhuru Peak to Horombo Hut
Begin the final ascent at midnight, reaching Gilman’s Point at dawn and then continuing to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa at 5,895 meters. After celebrating your achievement, descend to Horombo Hut at 3,720 meters.

Day 7: Horombo Hut to Marangu Gate
Complete your descent through the rainforest to Marangu Gate. Collect your summit certificates and return to Arusha/Moshi, celebrating your successful climb.
